I'm contemplating the use of alcohol on a drag car project I'm involved in.
It's a turbocharged 4 cylinder with a filled aluminum block so limited cooling available on the bottom end. 9500rpm and 2.5 bar boost.
What are the real differences between methanol and ethanol as fuels? Other than the calorific value and corrosive properties towards the fuel system.
Is there a reason to pick one over the other?
Is there even a reason to even go with alcohol rather than a high octane racing petrol? (Let's for a minute ignore the fact that the alcohol costs a fifth of what the racing petrol costs per litre)
