Sounds good...I will stretch my 68 Vette's legs tomorrow to see how she does. I ran it at idle today to see how your program reacts. It does as you said. The boxes that represent the idle parameters changed to green while idling. I am wondering what air fuel ratio I should use as the setting...any thoughts?

Hi Brent,

If your engine is stock, you can use 14.7 as your target A/F ratio. If it's modified (e.g. hotter cam), you'll want to try something a little richer - say 13.0.

Tom

Hi Mark,

Yes, it can work with a 1, 2, or 3 atmosphere map sensor.

Tom

thanks for your efforts with this program.

looking forward to use this!

I have some thing I wonder about.
is there any difference if I use closed loop or open loop operations with my 950 software? your program will pick up the voltage from my WBO2 anyway..... I think.

I am thinking like this:
If I use closed loop, the 950 software will try to compensate the AFR, so your program will pick up little wrong numbers from the 950, due to the compensation from the 950 AFR-calibration.
So if I have a map that is "raw tuned" and turn off closed loop, then open your program to start "fine tune". This will create (close to) correct numbers in the fuel map.
Then when I have a good map, open the 950 software and activate closed loop. then I will use the 950 AFR-compensation to handle the last variations when driving.

Is this correct thinking?

Hi,

You raise a good question, which I've been asked many times. I believe your theory is valid, but in practice it may or may not make much difference. I've heard from several users that have achieved good results using a mixture of open and closed loop operation, and I've also heard from users that successfully tuned their fuel maps entirely in closed loop.
Whatever method you try, (and if you're really curious I hope you try both), please write and share your experience with us.

Regards,

Tom

Just tried the app and I do like it overall. I was wondering if there would be a way to make it a bit more aggressive with tuning cells though. Even after driving for a while it will only adjust a few cells. Anything with some load to it stays blank.

I'm guessing the app want rpm to be stable, but big engine and a light car means that as soon as I give it some throttle the rpms will start climbing. I see good readings on my wideband so it should be OK to do some adjustments.

Hi,

Ah, the classic speed versus accuracy trade-off!

Your comments are valid, and I'm still struggling to find the right balance between tuning speed and accuracy. The latest release V2.2B tunes the cells in the upper left, upper right, and lower right corners more aggressively than those in the lower left corner.

Some people bring their vehicle to a shop with a dynamometer that can simulate the various loads, but that can get expensive. Do you have any hills where you live?

Regards,

Tom

Do I have hills... well, I live in Dallas. Need I say more? Laughing

I think it would be nice to have a setting in the app that lets the user set the aggressiveness.

Any chance you could send me a version with it dialed up a bit? As it is now it really isn't doing me as much good as I'd hoped.

Hi,

The good news is I will definitely add your request to the current wish list. The bad news is I won't get to work on the list for another month or two. I've still got a few more items on my wife's honey-do list. Sorry.

Regards,

Tom

Hello Tom,
i am running the 950 on a SBC boosted engine, have ilde to half throttle running pretty good i have issues with half to WOT.
I see that this program requires steady RMP to auto tune, it seems that when i hit a certian RPM/Map it sounds and feels like a rev limiter is kicking in causing RMP to stumble in one area, the car goes from pulling real hard to falling on it face.

Do you think this program would help correct the half to WOT issues i have.
i am thinking it is worth a try at this point i would try anything.

Tks
Joe

Hi Joe,

The "stumble" you're feeling could be the engine is running too lean. You can verify this by logging some data with either the Holley supplied software or my demo version (see links below). If you try the demo version and it indicates those cells are indeed too lean (or too rich), then yes the fully functional version will be able to help.
