Okay guys I was sent to this site for some answers. I just bought a race car with a motec 48. Up til then I had never even heard of motec. I've been on the site seen the specs and what a 48 will do is quite impressive, however no idea how to tune it? Like I don't know what software I need to buy? Use a regular laptop? What plug to purchase for connecting to the unit? Etc. please take me to school on a motec 48 guys.

Where are you located? How badly does it need work? How intent are you on doing things yourself? Might be better to find a qualified tuner to go over everything for you.

Takes a special com cable available from Motec.
I couldn't get it to work with my Windows 7 32bit laptop but they say it will
Program runs in DOS to Windows XP or older works fine.

On the Motec site there is a bunch of wiring diagrams, software manual and the actual software for the M48ecu. You will need to find out what firmware version the ecu has so you can download the proper software.

Guys...if you have no idea how to tune it.....then maybe you shouldnt even be trying.

I assume you do know that trying and making a mess could destroy your engine ?

Just tread carefully whatever you do.
