Hi guys, it is not news that we are having a spam issue. Please be assured we are working on this issue and hope to have it resolved soon. In the mean time the moderators and I will be checking often to take down any posts that do not belong on this forum and will be deleting their usernames.

Obviously we can not watch the forum 24/7. So if you see a spam post (Selling shoes, clothes, etc...) please copy and paste their username on this post and I will have it removed ASAP, or you can just e-mail the username to me at chris@efi101.com.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

As Mike and some other guys mentioned. Why not give them the power to delete and remove these accounts as they spot them ? He, or some of the more active moderators ?

wish it was that easy. Mike is a moderator...he wants administrator status in order to delete users. Which is fine...but it also allows him to make other people administrators and also change my administration status and even Ben's. I'm not saying Mike or anyone would do that, but in the past we made someone an administrator and he made all of his friends administrators and caused our forum to go out if control with over 10 administrators that we didn't even know that had total control over the forum. So it is now our policy to only have EFI University employees as administrators. Moderators can delete posts, so this can not be taken lightly either.

I gave Fair Warning that I would not be around and for the
other mods to pick up the ball, that said I have been cleaning
up these spam post for well over 6 months as Chris knows

+1, maybe I can get you a couple beers one of these days for your help.

Latest spammer is out2585272 (who, ironically, posted in this thread about spam).

Would it be out of the question to require admission to the board be verified by an admin or mod? I may be wrong, but it seems like that would take no more time than chasing the spammers around the board deleting their posts and banning them. For most boards, an confirmation email loop seems to be enough to keep the spammers at bay.

Just a thought.
