working on chevy truck with the 6l motor that has vct and has been boosted.
I'm going over for boost leaks but I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with the ls series vct and turbos. around 4800 boost drops down no matter what from the target to around 3-2 psi to 6k rpms. The cam timing iirc advances. Using a diablosport trinty and have no cam timing based options or a way to lock the cam in a static position to test.
Has anyone else dealt with such instances?
Possible a blown gasket or etc, which I'm checking for now. |

| Can you log actuations and events through OBD, and see what is happening as boost drops? |

open boost control, just external wastegate and boost controller.
I have some log data showing what is happening to the intake cam but I can't bring in above atmo pressure into the same data. |

| Im not familiar with that engine at all, so cant comment on the exact strategy used, but if its advancing the intake cam around when boost drops, you could unplug the solenoid to keep the cam in a fixed position.....to rule it out more than anything. |

variable cam timing was effecting boost.
disabled boost stayed just fine. |

?there was a VE change because boost control was not closed loop, yes?
what happens if you keep the variable cam timing and run closed loop boost in order to keep the boost constant with the increased VE, you may/will pick up hp if all else will allow it. _________________ www.circuitse7en.net

| Currently I don't have a way to do closed loop boost control and reguardless of turning up the boost, it falls back to the same ammount up top. |

A simple high quality manual boost control with the pilot line attached to the manifold (rather than compressor outlet) will provide closed loop boost control. PM if you want one I have some. _________________ www.circuitse7en.net
