| I have a 1980 Ford mustang notchback. I put in a 2.3 turbo out of an 86 XR4ti. The engine is .030 over, 5.4 crower rods, head studs, main studs, Esslinger Alum D port head, Esslinger 2277 roller cam, adjustable cam gear, Big valve job, gutted lower intake, gutted and rotated upper intake, garret gt turbo, stinger fmic, stinger header, 38mm wastegate, bpv, gillis boost valve, sx performance fuel pump (literally the size of a coffee can...LOL), 75# injectors and an electromotive tech gt engine management system. I run the car on e85. I also have 150# injectors which i will use when I can get it tunned. Now I got the car to start on the first try and figured out a cam sensor issue. Im running seq injection. It idles just fine but put a load on it and falls on it's face. I have checked the timing repeatedly. I givin it more TOG and nothing i do seems to help. I have posted some videos on youtube of it. My name there is the same turbo23stang80. If yall could check them out and give me some ideas I would greatly appreciate it. thanks |

Welcome to the forum. Timing is not the end all be all to making the engine run well. You should probably check the fuel table too. Too much fuel and not enough fuel can both cause problems. Anyhow, there is an electromotive sub-forum a little lower down the main page. Posting issues there may be more helpful than posting them in the introductions. _________________ EFI University Instructor

| thanks Seth. I'm gunna be honest here I have never tuned a car with a laptop in my life this the first time. I did however notice in my video that my AFR is like 22.something how i bring that down I have no idea. my TOG is 19 right now and my IOT is -2.25 I believe. I got idle down cold it good just anything over that is where the trouble happens. |

I'm afraid I'm super unfamiliar with Electromotive, so TOG is a foreign term to me. As is IOT. I would assume that the AFR reading you are seeing at 22.something is possibly a faulty reading however. Most engines will not run much less rev at that lean of a reading. If this is being measured at idle, it could be a reversion issue causing a funny reading.
You should be idle and cruising range around mid 13:1 to 14:1 AFR and should phase into the neighborhood of the low 11:1 range as the turbo starts to produce boost. This will be a good target to start with.
I assume IOT is ignition timing? I'm not certain what the 2.3L turbo Fords will take, but I would think -2 degrees is a little on the low side unless you are making 60 PSI of boost! heh... _________________ EFI University Instructor

Where in Indiana are you? May be able to lend a hand if you're in the area. We're down near Louisville, KY. _________________ Haltech, AEM, Apexi PFC Sales, Installation, Tuning
