Hello . I have a M400 . It has advanced tuning and logging but the wideband is not enabled . What would be the economical choice that is reliable to send a wideband signal to the ecu ? Seems to be lots of choices , Innovate , AEM , FJO ect . The other is should I just buy the option instead . I'm just trying to keep a buget and spend my money the wisest I can .

Thanks
Dave

purchase the upgrade code. It could be a little more then a seperate box, but the advantage is you get the diagnostics. Also you do not have to wire a seperate external box into your wiring loom.

Unlike most of the low cost external controllers, the Motec accepts 4 different types of sensors (NTK and Bosch LSU 4.0, 4.2 and 4.9).

i can recomend the lc-1 for perminate install can be bought for as little as £135, for tuning on a virity off cars the lm-1 is a good price unit,

both can be wired into the ecu very simply,

I would highly recommend the upgrade. Keep it simple and let the ECU control the sensor, and also get the diagnostics on board.

I appreciate the suggestions . I wanted the option for the ecu the most also . I ended up with an AEM 30-2301 for now to do the job . I hated making a second choice but the buget is tight enough to settle for now .

NGK Powerdex works really well for a budget unit.

Nice display and an analogue out so it can talk to the MoTeC.

Hi,
i'm interested in this too! So which are the steps?
Buy the upgrade code and a lambda sensor (which one do you prefer?) ?
What about the cable to the ecu and the power supply for the heater? Tia

depends partly upon your budget and what fuel you are running.

If running methanol rich in something like a drag car you need to use a Bosch product as they tend to be able to read a richer mixture.

The Bosch 4.0 seem to fail just at random times (sometimes 5 minutes, other times after 5 months). The 4.2s appear more reliable. Still have not got enough customers running the 4.9 to have a large enough sample size to comment on their reliability.

In turbo systems or cars with hot exhausts the NTK appears to be the most reliable.

Perfect, then NTK... thank you.
How do you usually wire it up? I've seen permanent installation with heater always on, and other with ecu controlled heater.

LSU 4.9 here.

takes alot more heat than the older LSU 4.2 (as it should as it is meant for lean cruse cars).

Need the newer software to run the LSU 4.9 though so keep that in mind!

Used 4.0, 4.2 and 4.9

4.9 best by far. after that i would go for the 4.2

the 4.9 is found in the BMW E90 ( i get them of the 330) each car has got 2 4.9 sensors.
