Customer shows up last night, FIC on a turbokits.com kit on a 2004 Celica.

FIC Internal Map sensor reads dead backwards through the pressure range. We are ~89kpa ambient, it reads 117 kpa. I put 10 psi pressure on it, it reads 50 something kpa, I pull 10" vacuum it reads 160 something kpa.

Everything else seems to work.

Called AEM, and they say nothing"obvious" could have caused this, This has been a long term build for her, and she no longer has the receipt, so AEM wants to charge for repair.... clearly seems like a manufacturing defect however, warranty or expired.

Anyone seen anything like this? Did they just wire the map sensor backwards internally? Is that even possible? Can I fix it and save her the shipping and repair fee??

Weird.

Thanks.

Sounds like the signal and ground are reversed on the sensor.

That's what I am getting at. It's an internal problem, seems silly to charge to repair.

But, if the sensor is PCB mount, it's impossible to do. If it's wired, then sure, I can see it happening....

I doubt the sensor would work at all when wired in reversely

Depending on the pinout, a wheatstone bridge sensor could function in such a manner.

interna map sensors in FICs sometimes are faulty, and they can repair it (it happened to mi on my 1910 FIC, so I know what im talking about)

But the truth is that for me, it was waay easier to get a used unit in ebay that sending it for repairs at AEM.
