I've been using my 2wd hubs now for a few months and iam very satisfied with how they work. Smile
I think they could have made a better solution with the big 28 channel harness. Like a little box or something to mount all the contacts to. Not just a huge harness hanging there.

How is the hub mounting solved? Different bolt patterns etc?

Can you upload some pictures?

edit: that inner aluminium cylinder is not that dynos adapter plate. Its a spacer mounted on the car so it can use regular wheels for the street when its not on drag radials.

Its a low reading dyno Smile a stock honda s2000 engine shows about 200whp.
The software is Really good and versatile compared to many others.

I'am still not 100% satisfied (only 90% Wink) with the PID control for the brake.
If i lock the rpm at say 4000 rpm, with 20% throttle and then floor it to 100% throttle it will overshoot about 200-500 rpm before it goes down to 4000rpm again.

But i have stopped tuning the PID control when i got it good enough for dyno tuning.
So steady state and sweep tests works good. this week i will try to make it react quicker to loadchanges.

But, in my opinion i should not have to tune these PID control variables, this should be done at the factory.

Good to hear this positive feedback! My 4wd set has arrived at the harbour of Rotterdam yesterday and will be delivered at my place next week Tuesday. Cool

The software interface is indeed very good from what I've seen and heard and is often used by people who build their own dyno.

What was the comment of L&S (Tom) about the PID control being slightly off?

Richard: Ok nice, let me know how it goes. Also, please share your PID settings that you get from L&S.

I actually didnt get a reply on my last email to Tom. But i think it works almost as good as i want to, so i haven't reminded him.
I think i can nail this myself Wink

@coz, I have an awd dyno and two of the hubs have an AC-motor, so I think the PID settings will not be the same. But I will share the settings anyway Wink

About the pictures, there aint so much to see Smile
Its an eddybrake in a big housing, with a bunch of cables attached to it Wink

I tuned the PID some more and i can make it react very quick. So its all good.

Finally got the first two units out of their crates and had a chance to take some pics. I haven't played with them yet, hope to do so in a few days.
My first impression is that it's nice quality, a sturdy build. Also, the eddy-current retarders are quite big.
I have the 2000AWD kit with the ActiveSync option which has two units with an AC-motor, you can see it in the pics below. Furthermore I also have 3 sets of wheel adapters, which serves me 9 different bolt patterns.

If anybody wants a specific part photographed or needs other details, let me know.

This is a wheel adapter for 3 different 4-bolt patterns, this mounts on the car axle just like a wheel and uses the car's nuts or bolts.

The wheel adapter fits on the unit nice and snug, no play but also not too tight. Normally it is bolted to the flange of the machine, but I just put it on loose for the picture here. The bolts are included btw

This is one of the two units which has the optional AC-motor to drive the non-driven wheels of a car to keep traction-control/ESP etc. happy. It is quite sophisticated and can also be used on 4wd cars to test hill-decent. They each have their own control-unit which you need to mount on the wall somewhere. For the price I'd say you get good value looking at what AC-motors and the controllers alone already cost.

@admin: I think it would be better to switch on auto-scale for pictures on the board here Wink

That's GREAT Richard! It looks very promising . I just didn't get the picture - is your dyno 2wd or 4wd, because I don't see any reason to have AC drive motor mounted on 2wd units which are actually the PAU's.
Also are there any measures taken concerning the camber compensation (you know how big are cambers on some race cars)on pictured L&S units?

Thanks for the pictures! Pls keep us informed.
Good luck with your new dyno!

It's a 4wd dyno.
The rear side swivel caster wheel has some sort of suspension, so when this goes in and out, the 'camber' of the flange on the front changes. If it can compensate for big camber like on race cars I will need to find out...

Richard,

Thank you for posting pictures!

Units look great!

Did you happen to talk to land and sea and ask them how long your phone tech support will last with a new dyno purchase?

Thanks for your time,
DK

One year support is included with the purchase, after that you need to pay per year. I guess it's the same for most suppliers, support is never free of charge.
