A friend of mine took the advanced EFI course in the USA some years ago, there he worked with the dynapack. The guys from EFI put the car on the dyno and during a session one of the adapters broke. What or where it precisely broke I don't know, but they had a couple of these adapters on the shelf out of experience of them breaking. This friend was told it had to do with unevenly torqued bolts and that it was something to be careful with.
I have a mechanical background and from what I've learned metal items which are hard can break in stead of them bending. The harder it is, the easier it will break if forces in a wrong direction are applied. So if they ring like a tuning fork like you say and feel very hard, I believe they are capable of breaking. I guess you know how to work with them the right way then
The adapters from this L&S hub dyno, where this topic is about, do indeed have a multi pattern like you say. They have 3 or 4 different patterns, depending on 4 or 5 hole patterns. It has it's up- and down sides; up because it will mount vibration-free like a wheel, down because you are limited in the types of vehicles you can service unless you invest in a couple of different adapter sets. |

I'am still installning the axle hub dyno, but it sure looks nice
Soon i will know how they perform.
I have one fan that do about 50,400m3/h.
Richard how much power does one of those motor use?
My radialfan motor is specified at 7,5kw/10hp. |

| these motors are 11kw a piece (15hp). for cooling the car it's preferred to have these snail shape fans as they are stronger pushing the air into the car. A regular fan normally does more flow with the same power and noise but less pressure. Richard bought two fans and there is another guy here in the netherlands who bought one fan. One fan pushes 50.000 m3/hour, about 25.000 CFM |

I'm in the market for one of these l&s hub dynos.
I tune a bunch of subarus now
How important is the "front and rear, hub to hub drive motor sync option"?
Having to add that, really adds to the cost of the dyno and I'm unsure if I need it or not.
From my understanding, which I hope its wrong, any car with traction control needs all hubs synced with electric drive motors.
Thanks for your business and time,

That option is also called AC-motoring and is to keep all wheels of a 2wd car in sync. Not needed for the 4wd subaru's, but like you say, as soon as you want to tune a 2wd car with traction control, ESP or something you want to keep all wheels in sync so these systems don't jump into limp-mode or screw with the ecu in some way.
I ordered this option with my hub-dyno as most modern cars use ESP and traction control and yes, it's an expensive upgrade. I'm still awaiting delivery of my dyno though, should be shipped soon. |

Hi,
I presume you have already L&S hub dyno. If yes please, would you share your experience and few closer pics of pods, control box and how is the attachment to wheel hub.
Thanks! |

I would def be interested as well.
I think I could get by without the sync option. I just wonder if I can add it later?
I thought about flying out to their business to test one of these before I bought it.
When I was looking for a 2wd dyne, l&s gave me quotes and a very detailed packet of info. They were very helpful, seems like an excellent business.
We are now revising my dyno cell project, making it a bit larger for a future 4wd dyne. I hope this l&s hub dyno is the way to go. _________________ http://www.dkGoodrich.com

The extra module is not for sync, the 4wd set-up does that standard for 4wd cars. The extra module is to power the two non-driven wheels of a 2wd car so all wheels spin at the same speed to keep ecu's/esp/traction-control etc happy, it can also do more fancy stuff like simulate hill-decent.
It is not something you can buy later on and plug-in, the AC-motors are build into two of the units. So if you want it later on, you need to trade in two of the units, or send them to their factory so they can upgrade them. If you're not in the US I think it will be expensive shipping wise. |

Thanks for your reply Richard!
Hearing this, I now can deal with out the ac motoring feature as most of the 2wd cars we deal with do not have traction control or you can turn it off.
Thanks for your time,
