Honda VVC In AEM v2

Hello guys,

Has anyone got any tips on setting up the VVC in AEM v2?

I am attempting to get control of the vvc solenoid in a Honda K20. I've done this many times before in V1 with no issues and i tried copying my V1 details into a V2 map, but no joy.

No matter what duty cycle i set on the solenoid, nor the limits, nor integral gain/proportional gain, or even if i turn the feedback loop off i get the random behaviour of the cam solenoid.

The sol uses a PWM output on the pin for injector 10. I am at the stage of shifting to a different pin to rule out a driver issue.

I know the solenoid and wiring are fine, as i tested them with a Kpro by substitution, and that controls the solenoid fine.

Thanks a lot!

Ben.

From my understanding, the Series 1 and Series 2 cam control is completely different when looking at the tables.

Something I would recommend:
Make sure that the VVC Period is set to something normal. I'm not certain what the maximum frequency the driver can handle is, but try it at 50Hz (20000 uS), if it still reacts funny try 100Hz (10000 uS), and then try 200Hz (5000 uS)

200Hz may be too fast, but I've never tested the factory output to know what frequency it would be.

Majority of the OEM solenoids are in the 200-300 Hz range, but it pays to double check.

Cheers guys, i tried messing with the control frequency of the solenoid, but no joy.

I am really at a loss with this one! I know the car and wiring work, so its only a calibration issue (or the ecu itself i suppose) but getting anything out of AEM is pretty difficult. Thier base map doesnt work out of the box- brilliant! Confused

Cheers,

BEn.

Sorry to hear that. I was certain the EVO 9 map worked well, so it's funny that the K series unit wouldn't work.

FWIW, you can send the map to me and I can take a peep at it.
