I'm struggling with a MoTeC M48. I get nothing more than ECU Not Connected no matter what I do. I've tried to laptops, one with integrated RS232 port and one with USB adapter. I've checked that the ECU actually has power.

Anyone have any tips? I used a standard RS232 cable. I suspect that we might need a special cable from MoTeC?

Motec uses Can-bus communications, and yes with a special cable.

The older M4s and M48s need a level shifter to speak RS232C. You can either make your own (e.g. FTDI, MAX232), or use one of MoTeC's 'logic level' cables:

So the cable part #63003 will solve my problem and let me communicate with the M48?

You need a logic level cable to talk to an M48. I don't know if that's your problem, but it'd be a good place to look.

the 3 wires u are refering to are on serial no's after 3000

ive got 3 of them ecu's infront of me but want to test the m48 too
