Ok customer has a Lexus Sc300 with a Series 2 supra ecu in it. motor is a 2JZGE with a single turbo and upgraded intake manifold. all the starting maps in Aem tuner is GTE maps will these ignition maps effect this car much to start with. is there a possible way i could copy and paste the stock GE ignition from Series 1?

Also there is a LS1 coil swap on the car i went to the wizard and selected LS1 in starting up this car. I was told by the tech working on the car he found the Coil Dwell factor needs to be 30 instead of 34 witch is what appears when you select the LS! coil option. anyone shed some light on this?

Your first question makes no sense to me. The engine will start with all 10s in the whole timing map if you so desired. If you tune the timing map then why would it matter what you start with? Just pull some timing out of the startup cal and tune it from there for MBT.

Not sure on the coil dwell factor. Maybe try AEM tech support a.k.a. AEM Forum.

the tech is having problems with this car (im not associated with the tech). there is no series 2 for the lexus sc300 yet. people have adapted the supra series 2 to work with the sc300. he is telling me the timing maps arnt right and is the reason why the car keeps stalling out at idle (im thinking its the LS1 coil swap). i am trying to verify that the GTE maps will work on the GE engine ( i dont see why not, but he insist its an ignition map issue).

It sounds like the 'tech' should be replaced by someone who knows what they are doing. Get the car to a dyno for proper mapping ASAP.

As much as the AEM's are overly complicated with billions of odd menus.

A timing map is a timing map. If your tuner cant make any sense of such a basic item, maybe he should take up painting instead.

im the tuner and i can make sense of the item but this is my first time with this software and this powerplant. wanted to confirm it wasnt a timing map problem as i think its the coil swap.

So how much variation in timing maps have you seen on various engines around idle etc ??

I suspect most are very similar, so it would take maybe....5 seconds to determine if the timing map was ok to allow the engine to run

i needed some written proof that they would work. i know to get a car to idle i have a big window for timing to get it to run. i be leave stock timing in the map is 19o witch it should run fine. I havent seen the car since it was on Map ECU 2. i made a basemap to his car and havent been to the other shop where the car is now. i suspect wiring issue.
